THE ATHLETIC
The Athletic Emergency Football Hotline was a campaign devised for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It consisted of a real phone hotline, manned by football experts and pundits, that the public could call and ask about everything and anything football related. The campaign launched with social content featuring Mauricio Pochettino and Alan Shearer as they attempted to answer some of the calls.
The campaign was a massive success with over 100,000 minutes worth of calls throughout the World Cup, and lead to a 109% increase in brand awareness for The Athletic. Alongside the social media campaign for the FIFA World Cup, The Athletic also sponsored BT Sport with a range of funny TV idents focusing on table football characters.
